Net Rate versus Retail Wholesalers Net rate wholesalers enter net rates supplied by their operators. These wholesalers process payments and raise a voucher once the booking has been confirmed and paid. Retail wholesaling is the term given to wholesalers who use the operators' retail rates and either charge a commission and/or booking fee. For non agent bookings, payment is received by the operator from the customer and the wholesaler invoices the operator for realised bookings for their fee or commission. For agent attended bookings, agents are expected to deduct their commission at point of sale by taking a deposit from the customer equal to their commission amount. The balance is payable by the customer to the operator. The voucher will clearly state to the operator what deposit (commission) has been taken up front and what is still payable by the customer. For both wholesaler types, commission will only be payable on the primary booking component and no commission will be payable on optional extras, taxes and levies.
